Volda University College

Volda University College (Nynorsk: Høgskulen i Volda, often shortened to HVO) is a state university college in Volda, in Møre og Romsdal county. It is a public university of applied sciences, and the Norwegian name on the register is Høgskulen i Volda. The register lists it as a state college owned by the Kunnskapsdepartementet, with institution code 0236 and postcode 6101.

The college was established on 1 August 1994, when the Møre og Romsdal regional college and the Volda Teachers College were merged. Its tradition in Volda goes back to a teachers' training college first set up in 1895. The rector is Odd Helge Mjellem Tonheim. It has about 4,600 students and 350 employees.

Teaching is organised into four faculties: the Faculty of Humanities and Education, the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, the Faculty of Social Sciences and History, and the Faculty of Media and Journalism. The college offers programmes from bachelor's up to doctoral level in Arts, Education, Media, Humanities and Social Science. It runs 6 Master's programmes, 30 undergraduate study programmes and about 300 courses. It hosts the annual Norwegian Documentary Film Festival (DOKFILM, since 1997) and the Animation Volda Festival (since 2007), and campus life centres on the Rokken concert venue and Rokken Café.
