For international applicants: full tuition fees for up to two years plus a living-expense stipend of NOK 50,000 per semester, if progression requirements are met

Overview

The BI Presidential Scholarship is for students starting a master's degree at BI Norwegian Business School. It is open to applicants to the Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim campuses. The award is based on grades, not financial need.

What you get depends on your residency status. Norwegian and international applicants who are residents of Norway get full tuition covered each semester for up to two years. Sivøk applicants get the same tuition cover. International applicants get full tuition for up to two years plus a stipend of NOK 50,000 per semester for living expenses.

To keep the scholarship, you must meet academic progression requirements. These are full study progression (30 ECTS) each semester and a minimum cumulative GPA of a B on the BI ECTS scale after each semester. The details are in the Scholarship Agreement.

Competition is strong. BI says the number of applications from students with excellent grades is far greater than the number of scholarships available. The school aims for a diverse and international student body and distributes scholarships across master's programmes.

Eligibility

  • You must have a minimum overall GPA of A on the ECTS scale, or the equivalent top-level grade on an international grade scale.
  • You must be admitted to the first year of a full-time master's degree programme at campus Oslo, campus Bergen or campus Trondheim.
  • You must be seeking your first graduate or master's degree.
  • You must have Norwegian or international citizenship. If you have international citizenship but completed a bachelor's degree in Norway, you are considered a resident of Norway for this scholarship.
  • Students in the third year of the Sivøk programme are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants to the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing are not eligible.

What it covers

  • Norwegian and international applicants who are residents of Norway: full tuition fees covered for each semester, for up to two years, provided you meet the academic progression requirements.
  • Sivøk applicants: full tuition fees covered for each semester, for up to two years, provided you meet the academic progression requirements.
  • International applicants: full tuition fees covered for up to two years and a stipend for living expenses of NOK 50,000 per semester, provided you meet the academic progression requirements.

How to apply

Apply for the scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission through the online application portal. Applications by email are not accepted, except from third-year Sivøk applicants.

  1. Upload your CV or resume and a scholarship application letter. The letter should explain why you should be considered and must be no more than one page. Combine the documents into one PDF file.
  2. Upload the PDF to the section marked 'Scholarship' in your online application for admission.
  3. Include all required documentation for admission to a master's programme. Your scholarship application is only considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and you accept the offer of admission.
  4. If you are a current BI student in your third year of the Siviløkonom programme, send your CV and scholarship application letter to info@bi.no with the subject line: BI Presidential Scholarship Application.

Only the scholarship application and documentation submitted at the time of application are considered. No additional documentation is accepted after submission. Confirm every detail on the official page before you apply.
