What you will study

What you study

This master's programme looks at how economics, society and nature fit together. You learn to lead businesses and organisations, or to work as an employee on processes that find smart, responsible and sustainable solutions. The programme is session based, so it works for students who do not have a background in economics.

You will cover topics such as development that drives smart cities and local communities, socially and environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship, quality of life in societies, energy transition, knowledge of the Arctic region, Indigenous and Arctic perspectives, and ethics and value reflection.

The programme is full time and built on teamwork and case work. Teaching and learning happen in English in an international learning environment.

Admission, language and next steps

To apply you need a completed bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 180 ECTS credits. Your undergraduate education must include a specialisation of at least 90 ECTS credits in economics and administrative subjects or social sciences. Within those 90 credits you need at least 20 ECTS credits in organisational, management or educational subjects, and at least 5 ECTS credits in social science methodology.

You also need a minimum grade average comparable to a Norwegian C on the ECTS scale. For international applicants, a minimum of 2nd Class Upper Division/B or equivalent is required. If there are more applicants than places, qualified applicants are ranked by grade points.

You must upload documentation that clearly shows you meet the admission requirements. Applications without sufficient documentation will not be considered. Check the programme page for the application process and deadlines. The programme is taught in English.

Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland do not pay tuition fees at Nord University. Students from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland should check the institution's website for tuition fee information.
